Chef for busy wedding venue!
This is the job for the chef who is burnt out by the crazy-long hours expected in the food industry and is searching for quality of life, sanity, respect, and a supportive work environment.
We are onsite caterers for a beautiful non-profit conference center in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We cater approximately 40 weddings a year as well as Buddhist retreats, music camps, and workshops. The position requires a seasonal (now to December), mostly weekend commitment, allowing ample time for family and hobbies (surfing anyone?). Season starts up again in March.
We are looking for a mature, enthusiastic person with some BOH management experience or at least a desire to learn. You will be involved in future menu design and execution and will liaison with the executive chef, lead chef and wedding coordinators. There is room for creativity and involvement in building our business. Youll find work here thats challenging, rewarding, and often out of the ordinary.
You are personable and have experience as a lead with all-around skills (butcher, baker, grill), and the ability to work primarily on weekends. Expect to be working 24-40 hours weekly.
We are located 45 minutes from San Jose, 35 minutes from Santa Cruz and 20 minutes from Watsonville. Reliable transportation is a must. Salary commensurate with experience.
