The Salty Seal Brewpub and Sports Bar is located directly on Cannery Row in Monterey, California. We are seeking a Line Cook to join a fun team!
Few destinations feature as wide an array of historic, cultural, and natural experiences as Monterey’s Cannery Row. Cannery Row has a high volume of foot traffic which will relate to higher profits for employees.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Line Cook at The Salty Seal Brewpub and Sports Bar, you are a crucial member of the kitchen team. You’ll work within a small team with one goal: to provide the best food possible for our guests.
- Food prep and cooking
- Ensuring compliance with all health and safety laws at all times.
- Help your supervisor to Maintain appropriate inventory logs and ensure all items are stored and labeled in accordance with expectations.
- Completing all restocking and cleaning duties by performing opening and closing side work as instructed
- Maintaining cleanliness standards in order to have a clean, presentable and attractive facility and to exceed state and local health board requirements.
- Memorizing and understanding menu items, recipes, and specials
- Occasionally performing other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management. Being a team player.
Qualifications
- Must have a great attitude and high regard for upholding service standards.
- Must have attention to detail and the ability to follow specific standards and procedures with consistency. Attention to not only everything that leaves the kitchen but noting and reporting plates returning with too much food so that we have good portion control.
- Previous experience in casual full-service restaurant kitchens.
- Two or more years of experience as a cook
- Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks at one time.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs on occasion, bend down, and reach above your head. For example, lifting a large bag of flour
- Keeping the kitchen clean. Performing side kitchen duties when the kitchen is slow. Performing closing duties when working an evening shift.
