Salary Range (effective January 1, 2022): $8,707 to $11,669 per month, DOQ

THE COMMUNITY AND PORT DISTRICT:

Santa Cruz Port District is an independent special district government responsible for the administration and operation of Santa Cruz Harbor, located 70 miles south of San Francisco and 35 miles north of Monterey. Santa Cruz Harbor provides permanent moorage for approximately 1,200 wet-berthed and 275 dry-stored vessels and offers both residents and visitors access to a variety of recreational and commercial opportunities.

THE POSITION:

Under limited supervision of the Port Director, the Administrative Services Manager directs, coordinates, and plans functions and operations of the Santa Cruz Port District (District) Administrative Services Department, including human resources, finance, purchasing, technology, environmental issues, and permitting; performs complex management and technical duties, and assures compliance with state and federal regulations and District policies and procedures. The position is an exempt service at-will position serving at the pleasure of the Port Director.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

The salary range for the incoming Administrative Services Manager is $8,707 to $11,669 per month, depending on qualifications. The Port offers an attractive benefits package including:

Retirement – The District participates in the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS). Employees’ tiered placement is dependent on status as a “classic” member or “new” member.

Medical/Dental/Life Insurance – All management employees and their dependents/spouses are eligible to receive CalPERS’ medical insurance, and dental, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance.

Paid Leaves – 10 days of vacation accrual; 12 days of sick accrual; and 12 holidays per calendar year.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or Public Administration; AND

Five years of experience managing governmental administrative, human resources, and financial functions; OR

Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
