Seeking a

Senior Configuration Management Support Specialist to ensure systems engineering process for establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life for a long-term construction rail project in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.

Requirements:
Successful Contractor will perform a wide range of tasks and responsibilities including, but are not limited to, the following :
  • Author and maintain the

    Configuration Management (CM) Project Documentation.
  • Maintain

    Configuration Data List/Data Base.
  • Oversee implementation of the Configuration Management Plan.
  • Status Accounting; Generates Status Reports
  • Establish/manage/maintain the electronic repositories for

    Configurable Items (CIs) and documents under Configuration Management control.
  • Control access to the

    Configuration Management System

    (CMS) under direction of Project Management.
  • Review the Configuration Management activities of Subcontractors.
  • Gather all inputs from Sub Contractors and Participating Groups.
  • Train project personnel in the Configuration Management process and the CMS.
  • Setup of CM Tools for the Project Team.
  • Undertake field configuration surveys and checks.
  • Training on all CM processes and the tools defined in the plan.
  • Support Physical Configuration Audits.
  • Review the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) in TeamCenter to be sure all of the Configurable Items have been identified.
  • Verify that there is a revision captured for each CI (This is tricky for COTS hardware/software, for example CISCO could have an internal OS version where a version greater than X.X is needed).
  • Create the Baseline configuration of the systems coming to the Field.
  • Attend all Change Control Meetings to know how upcoming changes will affect CM.
  • Audit the field configurations and update the field configuration based on CRs / Field Modification Instructions that affect the CIs.

Qualifications:
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in configuration mamangement process
  • At least

    2-3 years of experience

    in Configuration Management for a

    supplier to the railroad or mass transit industries or worked directly for a railroad or mass transit company

    OR 4-6 years experience - Configuration Management for an engineering firm
  • Working knowledge of

    Microsoft Office or other desktop publishing tool
  • Ability to understand and organize large amounts of information that is technically complex and originates from a variety of sources
  • Must be able to interview hardware/software subject matter experts and understand engineering-related information and terminology
  • Must be willing to travel nationally and internationally to office sites for training
  • Must be willing to work extended hours or weekend hours

    to complete an activity by the due date or travel to customer sites
  • Must be a team player; no exceptions, even if exceptional skills are exhibited in one area or another
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science OR Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing if corresponding work experience is with an engineering firm

Preferred Skills:
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with engineering and project management personnel to elicit information, support, and help when required for CM
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communications skills
  • Professionally mature, able to take direction, highly productive, works independently
  • Self-starter, not afraid to ask questions, motivated, proactive
  • Adaptable to the changes in direction of a project, flexible, and a good multi-tasker
