Volt has partnered with a leading manufacturer in Orange CA to help identify a Buyer for an immediate position.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring the continuous supply of assigned direct materials and MRO materials purchasing (maintenance and repair operations) to maintain the required production levels at optimum cost, consistent with quality and quantity specifications.
Specific duties:
Creates Purchase Orders for all approved vendors
Meets On-Time-Delivery (OTD) and Cost-Savings goals for the business
Purchases raw materials and processing per planning specifications to ensure production schedules are met and customer deliveries are on time
Manages supplier relationships, procures goods and services, including raw materials, tools, parts and supplies to support production schedules
Expedite, defer or cancel PO based on Demand Requirements
Works closely with multiple departments to keep them apprised of delivery schedules, quality of product, defects and corrective actions to support Engineering, Production Scheduling and Sales to advise delivery of material relating to production and on time delivery
Implements Supplier-Managed Inventory programs where feasible
Conducts material planning and analyzes material requirements to establish an optimal supply of material to support current and future production
Expedites orders when required to ensure on-time shipment and resolve any current or anticipated shortages that may result in line-stoppages
Negotiates with suppliers on delivery, quality, costs and packaging
Secures both short and medium-term commitments
Resolves any issues causing non-conformances that lead to parts not being successfully processed into production inventory
Maintains accuracy of MRP (purchase order details) to allow for accurate manufacturing planning and supplier performance monitoring of On-Time Delivery
Follow-up internally and externally (with supplier) to monitor supplier corrective actions and process improvements
Works with suppliers on performance improvement opportunities, ensuring continual supply while adhering to cost/inventory objectives
Meet or exceed cost reduction initiatives
Requirements:
3+ years' experience in procurement/planning
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required
Aerospace industry experienced preferred, not required
Knowledge of manufacturing processes of metals
Experience in reading blueprints, working with BOM's and familiarity with an MRP system
Procurement and negotiation, planning, inventory management and scheduling skills
Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: strong communication, interpersonal, & problem-solving skills; self-direction is a must
Strong computer skills are desirable, to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience with a major ERP system (Oracle or SAP)
