JOB DESCRIPTION

Objectives/Scope:

Under general supervision, keeps machinery and equipment in good repair. Examines machines for defects in operation, replaces defective parts, make necessary adjustments to insure efficient operation. Performs general preventative maintenance on equipment along with troubleshooting and performing non-routine repairs when applicable. Works closely with production to ensure equipment is operating at peak performance for safety, quality and productivity. Has enough knowledge to install, repair or rebuild equipment and replace ordinary parts as necessary

Duties:

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions

Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.

Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

Repairs electrical systems and equipment by diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus, such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures; determining faulty wiring; inspecting and testing malfunctioning machinery.

Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.

Maintains electrical equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.

Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Contributes to team effort by communicating clearly and effectively with coworkers and supervisor

Coordinate and maintain inspections and certificates on all pressurized taks and boilers

Maintain and update process PLCs

Monitor/update state-certified steam pressure vessels

Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service

Comply with OSHA safety and health rules

Obtain quotes and estimates for new equipment or repairs as directed

Coordinate and oversee all contractors working in the plant

Work with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing for equipment and supplies

Maintain organized and complete maintenance records

Ensure proper operation of above ground storage tank systems and perform monthly inspection

Ensure proper operation of ventilation systems and document airflow measurements at least twice per year

Install new electrical connections as needed or oversee contractor installation

Perform boiler and cooling loop repairs, upgrades or oversee contractor

Coordinate all maintenance or repairs as requested by managers

Identify and complete building and/or grounds maintenance and upgrade projects with senior management approval if appropriate

Report safety concerns immediately to your supervisor, the Plant Manager or Safety Committee Member

Follow all rules set forth in the Employee Policy Manual

Physical Demands:

Licensed forklift truck operator

Talk, hear and vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.

Repeatedly ascend/descend short flights of stairs/ladders

Bending, squatting, walking, and standing for full shift

Required Education and Experience:

High-school diploma

Technical training; exposure to high-speed equipment, 5+ years of related experience in manufacturing

Experience in a batch chemical manufacturing environment preferred

Drivers license with good driving history

Basic computer skills

Ability to speak, read and write in English. Ability to communicate in Spanish would be an advantage

Ability to work well with others and be an effective leader

Self motivated

Negative drug test
