Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a

Network Communications Specialist or Principal Network Communications Specialist to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals at our Palmdale, CA facility.

Roles and Responsibilities: The COMSEC Security Specialist's duties will include: ensuring maximum COMSEC safeguards are in place, configuration management using the Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) Local Management Device / Key Processor (LMD/KP) System Manager, managing proper accountability, handling, storage, packaging, shipment, and administration of all cryptographic materials, troubleshooting, software upgrades, system equipment certifications. Other duties will involve the ordering and transfer of cryptographic keys, interfacing with the EKMS help desk, communicating with vendors and providing EKMS changes and trend information to other security team members and management. The COMSEC Security Specialist will also assist in the ongoing development, presentation and accurate record keeping of COMSEC security awareness training for all COMSEC users.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Proficiency with fill devices.
  • Experience with the current version of the NSA Distributed INFOSEC Accounting System (DIAS) or equivalent and NSA/CSS Policy Manual 3-16.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds.
  • Ability to properly track and document the issuance, inventory and receipt of COMSEC materials.
  • Trained and certified with LMD/KP.
  • Ability to instruct users on proper use and protection of COMSEC material.
  • Knowledge of security classification, associated markings and physical security requirements for secure vaults and rooms.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Network Communications Specialist : High School Diploma / GED plus a minimum of 2 years of Military or Civilian COMSEC experience
  • Principal Network Communications Specialist : High School Diploma / GED plus a minimum of 5 years of Military or Civilian COMSEC experience
  • Candidate must have and be able to maintain an active U.S. Government security clearance at the Top Secret level with a background investigation date within 6 years, OR must be able to maintain an active U.S. Government SCI access with a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI)
  • Experience with Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI) equipment and associated keying material
  • Experience with DoD requirements for protecting classified information including requirements pertaining to the general safeguarding, control, transmission, disposition and retention of classified material
  • Knowledge of DoD COMSEC principles and Crypto Keymat management policies and regulations
  • Familiarity with IT Security and associated concepts (i.e. requirements, countermeasures, risk management, contingency planning, emergency action procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Military COMSEC experience, training and certifications
  • Transitioning service member or veteran of the U.S. military service or current military guard or reserve member
  • Spouse of a transitioning military service member or current military guard or reserve member
  • COMP TIA Security + Certification
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner in difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain high quality work to manage multiple critical projects
  • Ability to perform and participate in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of users
  • Proficiency in some or all of the following NSA Type I Encryption Devices: KG-175, KIV-7, KG-250, Omni, DTD, SDS, VIPERs and Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) with KSV-21
