Azure Palm Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa Oasis is a unique and exciting new property opening in March. Located in the Miracle Hill area of Desert Hot Springs the Azure Palm Café will be focusing on healthy options, fresh pressed juices and a coffee/espresso bar. We will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to our overnight guests, day use guests as well as locals and guests from the many smaller resorts in our area.

We are looking for a full time Lead Cook and part time Barista.

The Barista must have previous front of house experience including cashier experience in a fast paced environment and have strong customer service skills. This will be a fun and exciting position with room to grow as the Resort and Cafe expand. Full time may be available.

Lead Cook Job Description:

The lead is responsible for overseeing food preparation, maintaining a well stocked ingredient inventory and supplies, managing and updating the menu and recipes, scheduling kitchen shifts, monitoring inventory levels, supervising kitchen staff, maintaining a safe and organized work environment and helping the Cafe Manager in controlling food cost and waste.

To be successful, the lead cook will have proven culinary experience, be an excellent communicator and possess leadership and organizational materials.

The lead cook should be able to use various cooking and prepping techniques to prepare meals in accordance with food safety regulations, company standards and customer expectations. The ability to organize multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy environment is necessary as well as the sense of urgency needed to quickly and calmly get the job done. The lead cook must be able to train these abilities in others as well as prepare and cook the bulk of the cafes prepared, a la carte and catering menu items.

Job Responsibilities:

Read recipes and follow written/verbal instructions and prep lists to prepare food and beverage items as needed.

Be responsible for reading tickets, catering orders and other food and beverage needs and executing menu items in a timely manner.

Write recipes, prep lists and communicate with the Cooks and Dishwashers to delegate what needs to be done.

Create needs lists of materials, supplies and ingredients based on demand using ParsleyApp.

Supervise kitchen employees.

Ensure food portions, flavor, health and presentation meet company standard.

Work with Cafe Manager to price and change menu items.

Ensure staff is cleaning and maintaining food prep areas, utensils and equipment before and after use.

Assisting other kitchen and cafe staff to ensure food orders are completed correctly and on time.

Ensure food health and safety regulations are followed.

Control food costs by properly receiving and rotating stock and reducing wastage.

Job Requirements:

Riverside County Food Handler’s Card (required)

Minimum 2 years of relevant cooking experience (required)

Ability to stand or walk for 8 hour shifts and lift at least 50 lbs. (required)

In depth knowledge of kitchen healthy and safety regulations. (preferred)

Ability to follow and provide written/verbal instructions and delegate as needed.

Proper knife and kitchen safety skills
