Position Purpose
The Driver, under the direction of the Logistics Manager, operates a truck that transports cargo to and from specified destinations and loads, secures and unloads cargo. Additionally the Driver will prepare, receive and provide appropriate documentation for the delivery or pick up of goods to ensure timely service.
Essential Functions
⢠Prepares truck for operation by inspecting general condition; checking fluid levels and tire pressure; obtaining or scheduling required repairs; validating adherence to roadability standards;
⢠Drive store box-truck for pick-up;
⢠Loads truck by ordering, placing, and securing items;
⢠Serves customers by understanding and resolving or forwarding complaints; adjusting orders;
⢠Maintains truck operating efficiency by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; scheduling repairs;
⢠Maintains safe operation and clean appearance by complying with organization operational policies, procedures, and standards, as well as state and local driving rules and regulations; cleans truck exterior and interior;
⢠Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments;
⢠Prepares daily routing, appropriate documentation for donors and Dispatch department;
⢠Maintains telephone contact prior to donors pick up and Dispatch office.
Required Education and Experience
⢠Graduate from a high school, or possession of a certificate of proficiency issued by the California State Board of Education, or possession of a G.E.D. certificate;
⢠Delivery/pick-up experience as box truck Driver is necessary;
⢠Loading and unloading of box trucks;
⢠Working knowledge of truck lifts;
⢠Ability to read a Thomas Guide and follow instructions;
⢠Ability to use a GPS unit.
Preferred Education and Experience
⢠Experience/knowledge of thrift store environment preferred;
⢠Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), interpersonal and team-oriented skills;
⢠Self-starting, self-motivating mindset;
⢠Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail;
⢠Bilingual/bicultural preferred.
License(s) and Certification(s)
⢠Possess a valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
