Please review the job details below.

At Maxar, we are building on our 60 year legacy of innovation, from designing the high gain antennas for NASA's Voyager 1 and 2, which have raced beyond the heliosphere through interstellar space, to establishing ourselves as the industry leader in high powered geostationary satellites delivering broadband internet access, satellite radio, and direct-to-home satellite television. The next step of our growth as an industry leader adds the construction of the most advanced generation of earth imaging satellites, the Psyche interstellar spacecraft bus to study the asteroid of the same name, and partnering with NASA on the Power and Propulsion Element (PPE) of the Lunar Gateway for the Artemis program.

To continue as the leader in the space industry, Maxar is currently seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to participate in space vehicle systems engineering activities supporting program proposals and leading teams in program execution. The person in this position will apply the systems engineering discipline and processes during the proposal phase with a focus on vehicle concepts of operations, vehicle architectures, driving requirements, and leading cross-subsystem trade studies. During program execution, this person will lead a systems engineering team in converting the customer needs, as communicated by the mission requirements, into a compliant vehicle architecture through the further development of vehicle functional block diagrams, vehicle requirements/verification methods, and requirements decomposition to the appropriate subsystem(s). As the program progresses, the focus becomes oversight and involvement in the verification of the subsystem(s) design and analysis, manufacturing of units, and assembly, integration, and test of the space vehicle to ensure mission compliance. The culmination of the program is delivery to the customer, whether it be on-orbit or as part of a larger integrated vehicle. We are currently seeking candidates with strong systems engineering experience on USG programs and a strong foundation in at least one space vehicle subsystem discipline who are able to creatively work within defined processes and put the mission and team first during program execution.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Requires 14 years of experience leading systems engineering teams to produce the necessary requirements and verification plans to successfully complete a given mission. A master's degree may be counted as two additional years of work experience.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering as a discipline
  • Solid understanding of typical spacecraft subsystems and their relationships to each other in the context of LEO, GEO, or interplanetary missions.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Current/active TS/SCI
  • Experience with LEO hosted payload missions
