Maxar is currently seeking a Structural Analyst to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. You'll be part of a challenging and fast-paced team, working on spacecrafts operating in earth orbits, deep space missions, interplanetary missions and much more. You will be responsible for performing structural analysis and test of spacecraft structures and subsystem components using finite element modeling and classical analysis methods.
Responsibilities:
• Determine most efficient, yet sufficiently thorough method of solving problems.
• Utilize knowledge of aerospace materials, structural testing, and basic structural analysis concepts such as strength of materials, stress analysis, and structural dynamics.
• Develop finite element models of components and assemblies using PATRAN, FEMAP, and NASTRAN software.
• Perform stress analysis and margin of safety analysis using strength of materials theory and classical methods.
• Process models to obtain static and dynamic responses to launch, test, and ground handling environments, including definition of test requirements, design of test configuration, administration of tests, and writing test reports.
• Consolidate analysis results into clear technical documentation
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Must = or permanent resident
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, civil or other engineering discipline or a related field. Four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Knowledge in finite element analysis
Preferred Requirements:
• Master's degree
• Familiarity with advanced composite materials
• Familiarity with Spacecraft structures
