What you'll do day-to-day (with your colleagues):

We are looking for a full-time Responsible Engineer to support new and existing Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA) Subsystems projects. This role is critical in the development of new satellites, the TWTA Subsystem a major contributor to thermal, power and mass subsystems designs. Getting the right design of this sub-system is a major driver of cost and schedule on every project.

In this role, you will be developing specifications for Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA) Subsystems by interfacing with Advanced Systems Engineering to develop the internally required performance and working with external vendors to deliver the subsystems required by the programs. You will also follow the hardware through the development, manufacturing, and test phases, acting as Maxar's technical expert on the subsystem. You will report progress and issues to your management team.

Responsibilities:
  • Acts as the Responsible Engineer for a major portion of a complex system.
  • Performs advanced system design and development engineering tasks on assigned projects.
  • Determines applicable specifications for design, development, test, and/or production activities.
  • Provides technical consultation to management and to other engineering and scientific personnel.
  • Reviews designs and reports of engineering personnel in related fields of specialty and provides technical analysis and recommendations.
  • Prepares and delivers briefings and issues reports on activities, analyses, experiments, and all work performed.
  • Introduces innovative and creative techniques in area of specialty.


Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident.
  • B.S. degree or the equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years related working experience required. With M.S. degree, minimum of six (6) years related working experience required. With Ph.D. degree, four (4) years related working experience.
  • Experience working with external vendors.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Contribute to major technical proposal efforts.
  • Experience in on-orbit failure investigations and provide technical assessments.
  • Provide functional guidance to personnel assigned to assist. Receives broad assignments with limited supervision.
  • Represents the company to customers and/or vendors in providing solutions for technical problems.
  • Thorough knowledge in a specific engineering or scientific field in RF technologies and engineering.
  • Experience working with multiple engineering disciplines.
