Maxar is currently seeking a Power Subsystems Systems Engineer to join our growing team in Palo Alto, CA or Westminster, CO. At Maxar, our next generation spacecraft range from Earth observation to interplanetary missions, including the Lunar Gateway Power and Propulsion Element (PPE). You will have the opportunity to combine systems architect skills with power hardware.

In this role, you will act as the engineering focal point for a power portion of the satellite system. You will collaborate closely with the Program Office and a cohort of engineering disciplines to develop subsystem requirements and specifications through analysis and system trade studies to translate the customer's requests into feasible design solutions. You will assist in flowing down power handling requirements into system level verification tests, risk reduction plans, and subcontractor product specifications including procedure and tool creation.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee program delivery of power hardware and financial performance
  • Collaborate with Flight Software, Thermal, Configuration teams and Subcontract teams
  • Create power budgets
  • Optimize data flow paths
  • Collaborate with Subcontractors in the development and Manufacture of Power Products
  • Resolve issues during AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) test phases


Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field. 4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with satellite design and test obtained through educational training and/or on-the-job experience in a related field
  • Understand the response of a system to various design elements
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Familiarity with the space environment and its effect on satellite systems
  • Understanding of mathematics, physics and chemistry as they relate to mechanical and electrical systems
