This intern will have the opportunity to develop a web-based front end for the Mars 2020 SSim web service, a Linux-based flight-software-in-the-loop simulation tool. The front end will take the commands (that will be uplinked to Mars) from the user, send it to the SSim web service, and visualize the results (rover log messages, 3D rover motion, etc.).

Performs routine job functions and activities within assigned area.

Participates on concept development teams by utilizing new approaches and tools acquired from current academic experience.

Assists scientists and engineers working on requirements and alternative configurations.

Assists with the maintenance, status, analysis, and reporting of assigned project schedules and associated metrics.

Attends peer reviews of system performance verification & validation documentation as required.

Works on day-to-day assignments under direct supervision; receives detailed instructions on new assignments.

Uses applicable policies, procedures and practices as guides to determine work methods and deliver results.

Work is reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy.

Seeks guidance in applying applicable policies, procedures and practices to new situations to determine appropriate action.

Interacts primarily with immediate supervisor and team members within own organization.

Participates on a team within own organization.

QualificationsRequired Skills:

Must be currently enrolled at least half-time at an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelors degree in Engineering.

Minimum GPA 3.0.

Knowledge and experience with JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and Python.

Desired Skills:

C and C experience is suggested but not required.

Participation in student organizations.

Participation as a member of a student design team.

Participation as a member of an academic research laboratory.
