Job Description

Describing the role for the Oracle Database Administrator opportunity:

The Oracle DBA will analyze project requirements and design solutions to ensure that databases are functionally appropriate, technically valid, and well-integrated in accordance with the business user requirements, methods and standards throughout the project lifecycle.

The Oracle DBA will work to drive infrastructure development, and may also serve as a Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME). Be part of the team that collects requirements, reviews and tracks change requests, defect assessments, and system configurations.

Make data knowledge as transferrable as possible, create database solution support during 3rd level (L3) production support, priority management and implementation of break-fix, maintenance and change requests. In some cases, research and review of technical solution alternatives will be necessary.

Overall description for the Oracle Database Administrator

  • Installation, integration, maintenance, concurrency and upgrades of database software and features of our Oracle platform.
  • As the SME Oracle Database Administrator (Oracle DBA) you'll, define and follow procedures and protocols to ensure database integrity, compliance, and monitor database utilization, user functions, and performance metrics
  • Research, evaluate, develop and implement Oracle Database Engineering designs and standards following industry best practices.
  • Ensure that current and planned technical solutions are compatible with the company's business needs and strategic objectives.
  • Work with the other IT organizations to design, develop, and implement Enterprise Oracle Databases in support of development, testing, and production environments

Qualifications

The Oracle Database Administrator will have most of these skills:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Oracle certification or equivalent with demonstrated relevant experience in current/recent Oracle Database versions
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle 11g and 12c, GRID, RAC and DataGuard
  • 3-5 years of experience in system design, implementation and Level 3 support activities
  • Strong technical working knowledge and hands-on experience with server hardware and operating systems
  • Prior experience with DBVault, Encryption, Masking, Subsetting, High Availability (HA), performance management and capacity planning is a plus
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and troubleshooting issues in Development and Production environments
  • Knowledge of/prior DBA experience with SQL Server and/or MySQL is a plus
  • Ability to work independently and creatively to problem solve complex technical issues
