Job DescriptionJoin the Clean Energy RevolutionBecome a Data Scientist Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be responsible for analyzing incoming data, discovering insights, identifying opportunities, and recommending solutions using statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. You will use advanced analytical approaches using predictive modeling, optimization, and simulation abilities and apply statistical and pattern recognition techniques to perform description, prediction, and optimization. In addition, the Data Scientist will generate business insights and propose recommendations for data-informed solutions The Data scientist will need a combination of business understanding, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and programming knowledge with emphasis on manipulating data extracted from CSV files.As a Data Scientist , your work will help power our planet, reduce carbon emissions and create cleaner air for everyone. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future?A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!Works with Aerial Inspection Program and SCE stakeholders to understand business problems, goals, and objectives, translate them into data science projects and appropriately prioritize.

Work closely with business, engineering, and technology teams to develop solutions to organizational problems.

Provide thought leadership in algorithmic and process innovations, and creativity in solving unconventional problems.

Design, develop, data mine, and evaluate highly innovative models for predictive learning based on output of Aerial Program

Must be able to create predictive models

Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation.

Translate business problems into mathematical problems and vice versa. Develop simple visualizations of results in an easy-to-digest business format.

Produce model performance metrics. Prepare deliverable reports for business teams.

Track record of leading and collaborating on Advanced Analytics strategic initiatives.

Ability to lead small SME teams.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Strong Problem-solving ability

Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to work independently.

Knowledge of one or more business/functional areas in Electrical Utilities domain

Keep abreast of new and current data science / big data techniques, develop relationships with data science individuals at other utilities and participate in relevant industry forums and groups.

Ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets

QualificationsThe essentialsBachelors Degree in any STEM curriculum or related technical discipline

Seven or more years of experience using Data Science to evaluate program/departmental results

Proficiency in some combination of SQL, R, Python, SAS, Power BI, Excel VBA; expertise in extracting and transforming large datasets.

The preferredBachelors Degree in any STEM curriculum or related technical discipline

Certification in Data Science and/or Predictive Analytics

In-depth industry/business knowledge in Electric Utility domain

Experience in leading and mentoring junior team members, and guiding them on data science and advanced analytics
