Job Description
Under general supervision, the Recycling Attendant operates and maintains the company's drop off recycling center and collects recyclable materials from the public. Work involves handling, processing and sorting recyclable materials; assisting customers; monitoring usage and container levels; and maintaining the Recycling Center.
Examples of Duties:
Sorts and processes recyclable materials.
Directs citizens on where to drop off material within the facility by interacting with customers and explains how to recycle or dispose of items; helps in unloading of materials when necessary.
Maintains facility and grounds keeping by picking up trash, and recycling other debris; ensures that equipment, gates and locks are working correctly; maintains equipment in good working order and in accordance with all safety guidelines.
Performs bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, twisting, crawling and reaching both to ground level and overhead; may be required to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and/or push and pull up to 50 pounds; must hold and grip objects. Subject to working in awkward positions and periods of prolonged walking or standing.
Desired Experience:
Cash handling experience.
Ability to sort and identify all recyclable material brought in by general public.
Ability to identify NON-CRV recyclable containers.
Ability to load and unload recyclable materials into temporary storage containers.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. Employees are only allowed to lift and/or dump a barrel with a combined weight of 35 pounds.
Able to monitor and enforce rules and procedures with respect to division requirements for acceptable materials and customer activities at assigned sites.
Must have outstanding customer service.
Bigfoot Recycling is a drug free work place. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
Valid CA driver's license.
