This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CaliforniaEssential Functions:Prepares and processes parts and materials for microscopic examination in support of engineering and reliability analyses using metallographic techniques. Sections, mounts, polishes and images parts and materials for examination using standard metallography equipment (e.g. saws, polishing wheels). Metals, composites, ceramics and multiple material stack-ups are common subjects to be processed. Evaluates new processes, components, products, and systems in conformance with engineering specifications. Isolates problems for further analyses. Collects and documents results, and generates reports. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. May be required to ensure correct functioning and identify any discrepancies. May advise operators and inform engineers regarding processes, procedures, and equipment. May advise operators and inform engineers regarding processes, procedures, and equipment.Qualifications:Basic Qualifications:High Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of related experience in metallography

Hands-on experience processing materials and parts for metallographic analysis

Experience using sectioning, mounting and polishing equipment

Ablity to obtain and maintain a secretclearance

Preferred Qualifications:Hands-on experience as a lab lead in the processing of materials and parts for metallographic analysis

Experience using and maintaining sectioning, mounting and polishing equipment

Experience using a metallograph to image resulting material mounts, along with experience measuring microscopic features of material microstructures

Hardness and micro-hardness testing experience
