Job Description

MECHANIC A ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performing all phases of maintenance, including electrical mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance.

Maintain required records, reporting in writing any uncorrected mechanical/electrical defects and replacement parts to the supervisor.

Direct/instruct subordinate employees still in training (e.g. Maintenance Mechanic B,C and Trainees).

1) Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues including 480v 3 phase and PLC communication.

2) Fabricate mild and stainless steel from prints/drawings. Use of MIG and Arc welding. Use of torch and plasma cutter.

3) Diagnose conveyance and other process issues relating to leaks, plugs, bridging, etc.

MECHANIC B ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist in performing all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (i.e., fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance.

Maintain required records, reporting in writing any uncorrected mechanical/electrical defects and replacement parts to the Supervisor.

Direct/instruct subordinate employees still in training (e.g. Maintenance Mechanic C and Trainee)

1) Ability to replace electrical components as instructed including 480v 3 phase.

2) Ability to cut and weld as directed to install patches on mild steel. MIG and Arc welding. Use of torch and plasma cutter.

3) Ability to read and implement equipment instructions. Take direction from Mechanic A and management.

4) Desire to learn all skills related to Mechanic A.

MECHANIC A ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

Fill in for production/receiving staff as needed. Ability to work on call, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Spot all rail cars in correct position for production

MECHANIC B additional functions

Qualifications

Mechanic A requirements:

1. 5 Years welding experience with MIG and Arc welder on mild and stainless steel. Proficient in use of plasma cutter and torch.

2. Know and follow lockout/tag out procedures, confined spaces, and MSDS. Follow all OSHA and company policies and best practices.

3. Math, reading, and writing capabilities. Understand blueprints, schematics, repair manuals.

4. Knowledge of electrical wiring for 120/240/480 volts.

5. Capability of repairing/replacing pumps, motors and valves.

6. Diagnose PLC issues and work with vendors to repair.

7. Ability to perform a variety of strenuous physical tasks including lifting (up to 100 lbs.), working in confined spaces, ability to work and climb at heights (120 feet), climbing up/down ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, and reach on a daily/repetitive basis.

8. Must have an overall favorable employment record and attendance record.

9. Working all shifts; Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

10. Must be willing to rotate into various departments with varying job duties as needed.

11. Must be able to show up to work daily and be on-time to perform the duties of the position.

12. Ability to operate all plant equipment and machinery including rolling stock (trucks/trailers, forklifts, loaders, man lifts).

13. Plumbing skills.

14. Good communication skills, both verbal and written. Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

15. Good mathematical skills.

Mechanic B requirements

:

1. 2-3 years of training and/or experience which has provided a basic working knowledge of the grain handling, or similar systems and practices.

2. Lockout/tag out procedures, confined spaces, and MSDS. Follow all OSHA and company policies and best practices.

3. Ability to perform a variety of strenuous physical tasks including lifting (up to 100 lbs.), working in confined spaces, ability to work and climb at heights (120 feet), climbing up/down ladders and stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, stand, and reach on a daily/repetitive basis.

4. Must have basic mechanical skills, and the ability to work with basic hand tools.

5. Learn to read and understand basic blueprints, schematics, repair manuals

6. Learn to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair: natural gas burner, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems.

7. Use MIG or Arc welders, on both mild steel.

8. Use cutting torch and plasma cutter.

9. Basic plumbing skills.

10. Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.

11. Ability to operate all plant equipment and machinery including rolling stock (trucks/trailers, forklifts, loaders, manlifts).

12. Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

13. Good mathematical skills.

14. Excellent attendance record.

Ability and desire to work up to higher level maintenance position.
