Looking for a long-term career and growth opportunity? Stable, established and growing Sacramento company has an opening for an experienced Staff Accountant. The company is an industry leader in business since 1970, with manufacturing production of wood products and trucking operations in multiple locations and are growing with acquisitions. The position is based at central Sacramento headquarters.

Friendly and collegial accounting team and a fast-paced but quiet, calm work environment. This is a regular hire, full time employee position and a newly created position added due to the growth of the company, reporting to the Senior Accountant/Analyst. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting related tasks, including daily sales reporting, capital asset processing and record management, month-end close for a specified division, financial reporting and research, budget preparation, and external audit requests. We're looking for very strong, advanced level Excel skills, and at least 2 years of experience with similar level responsibilities.




• Perform daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including tracking and documentation for capital expenditures, preparation of monthly journal entries and supporting working papers, and monthly variance analysis

• Preparation of month-end/Quarter-end financial package for specified division

• Timely and accurate daily/weekly Sales Metrics reporting for all divisions

• Extraction of data from ERP System into Excel, verify accuracy and completion of data to financial statements/General Ledger, and properly maintain existing data models to provide information for various reporting requirements

• Providing support for external audit requests - including organization of electronic files that align with department best practices

• Participation and coordination of inventory counts specific to customer program, and provide reporting and documentation for review by supervisor

• Data entry of annual budget for divisions

• Displays and promotes knowledge sharing - including documentation and record retention of processes

• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices

• Assist the Accounting/Finance Department on various tasks and projects upon request


• College education in Accounting or Finance

• 2+ years' experience in related accounting/finance responsibilities, journal entries and supporting work papers, G/L account variance analysis, month end close activities, financial reporting packages

• Experience with inventory reporting preferred

• Expert level in Excel - pivot tables, graphs, charts, etc. (also Word and Outlook)

• Ability to manage time efficiently and work well under tight reporting deadlines

• Highly detail oriented and organized

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent spelling and grammar

• Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from supervisor

• Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies

• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality; manage and secure sensitive information

• Experience in lumber and/or manufacturing industry is an asset, but not a requirement

• Able to travel to various locations as needed
