The Technical Architect translates business goals and functional requirements into a technical solution. The role will be responsible for the value and sustainability of application and/or infrastructure solutions. A firm understanding of usability and information architectures is essential.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to:

  • Work closely with Business and Solutions Architects to translate business requirements into meaningful technical solutions
  • Lead participatory technical design and user testing sessions (with oversight and direction)
  • Assist the project team in prioritizing, selecting and building integrated technical solutions
  • Identify opportunities to create business value and improve the user experience, based on user research
  • Create visually compelling representations of a technical solution's high-level interaction, navigation, and organization design (i.e., concept models)
  • Work with technical subject matter experts to provide detailed designs and build components of a technical solution
Mandatory Qualifications
  • Seasoned experience as a technical application and/or infrastructure designer
  • Seasoned experience in working with technical teams to build and implement application and/or infrastructure solution designs
  • Strong technical writing, documentation development, and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong communication skills are necessary along with experience leading large group meetings / brainstorming sessions
  • Experienced in establishing architectural Policies, Standards, Principles, Guidelines, and Best Practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring to be able to accomplish goals and facilitate knowledge transfer
  • Demonstrated broad technical knowledge, strong leadership and technical vision
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in medium to large IT and/or system implementation projects
  • Experience in working with State of California Departments
Education, Certification, Training & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field or equivalent experience
