Our client is looking for a Data Base Administrator for a 12+ month contract located in Sacramento, CA (onsite, 2 days telework offered).

responsibilities:


Shadowing current team members to cross train for different DBMS technologies, including ADABAS support, and data replication technologies, like tcVision and Gateway.

install, configure, manage, and tune different database management systems

create and monitor user access and security

manage availability and performance of different customer databases

manage the security and disaster recovery aspects of databases

contribute to database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (metadata)

communicate regularly with applications and operational staff to address their requests

Desired Education and Experiences

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field

Experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field

Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments

Experience with database technologies ( MS SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL)

Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, and OCI) is a plus

Qualifications

good customer service foundation and practice

Ability to work in high pressure environment

Knowledge of Query and Shell script experiences

Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling

Familiarity with SSIS and SSRS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Attention to details

Database Administration, including numerous Oracle, MS SQL, and PostgreSQL databases

- Installing and creating databases

- Configuring and performance tuning of the databases

- Backup and Recovery

- Developing and tuning stored procedures, functions, and packages

- User management (creating users, password management, privilege management)

- Linux Administration

- Installing and configuring Linux on new VMs

- Installing software and packages on Linux

- Network configuration and tuning

- Shell script development and maintenance

- Creating cron jobs to perform different tasks, including database maintenance tasks

- Monitoring and performance tuning of the servers and jobs that are running on them

Reports Development and Tuning

- Microsoft SSRS

- Logi Analytics

- other BI tools
