SUMMARY • There is unlikely to be any telecommuting aspect. The work schedule is to be determined with the selected candidate, but the workday window will be Monday-Friday between 7:00am-5:30pm.The selected candidate will be required to complete and pass an exhaustive law enforcement background check process before work can begin. This process typically takes 4-6 weeks. • The ideal candidate for this position will have a degree in Information Systems and/or certification(s) in network design, network security, Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Azure Solutions, Cisco CCNA or similar with a special consideration for those with public safety technology experience. They will be selfmotivated, highly analytical, able to excel at solving complex problems and to learn quickly and be able to work independently after given initial direction. • The ideal candidate might also be someone who has experience being the lead/sole IT member being handson in all/most aspects of a typical IT operation, including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMWare, SAN, LAN/WAN, Internet/Web Proxy, Security (firewalls, enterprise antivirus, endpoints), Data Retention, and supporting PCs/laptops and mobile devices. The selected candidate will not be responsible for all of these areas, but bringing hands-on experience with an entire IT operation would be highly beneficial.
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS • Experience with and/or solid understanding of the following areas is required: o Architecting new solutions – able to be presented a complex technical problem and use breadth of IT knowledge, experience and new research to quickly develop and articulate viable and cost-effective solutions o Secure Local and Wide-Area Network design Note that County IT supports the County’s and Sheriff’s Enterprise LAN, WAN and edge security, however the Sheriff’s Office supports several specialized, highly secure wired and wireless networks. o Wireless, mobile security solutions, including: Cellular router configuration (Cradlepoint/Sierra Wireless) Mobile Device Management (MDM) (VMWare WorkspaceOne-formerly AirWatch) Mobile Network Encryption (NetMotion) Multi-factor Authentication (Okta, HID Digital Persona) VPN, Wi-Fi, LTE, Satellite, VoIP • Experience with and/or solid understanding of the following areas is desired: o Azure/AWS secure IaaS server/storage/network management o Azure/AWS-hosted vendor software solutions and security architecture o Enterprise Data Backup/Site Recovery solutions o Active Directory, Group Policies, SCCM o Windows Server administration o VMWare ESX administration OTHER CHARACTERISTICS AND ABILITIES • Excited to support the mission of public safety • Self-motivated • Eager to learn and embrace new technology to address challenges • Effective at managing multiple projects and tasks • Foster positive customer and vendor relationship
