Westat is currently seeking motivated individuals with a commitment to excellence for the ongoing National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The core of NHANES involves in-person household interviews and medical examinations conducted in a mobile examination center (MEC).
Bilingual dietary interviewers will be part of a large team that travels throughout the U.S. Bilingual dietary interviewers conduct a 24-hour dietary recall interview. These interviewers will remain at a site for approximately 6 weeks.
Candidates must:
Have a bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, home economics, or a health-related field with at least 12 credit hours in food and nutrition;
Be at least 18 years old;
Have a valid (current and not suspended) driver's license and an acceptable driving record;
Be CPR certified or have the ability to obtain CPR certification within the first 3 months of employment;
Be willing to commit to work for at least 1 year;
Be capable of lifting a maximum of 35 lbs., as well as packing, unpacking, and moving and storing equipment and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodations;
Be available to work 40 hours per week during daytime, evening, and weekend hours;
Have basic computer proficiency and administrative and clerical skills;
Have the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; and
Be fluent in both written and spoken Spanish. Must be able to pass Westat assessment.
FULL-TIME CONTINUOUS (approximately 48 weeks per year) TRAVEL IS REQUIRED with two vacation breaks a year. Travel is primarily by car.
Mandatory training will be held in Rockville, MD. This is a full-time nonexempt position. Pay rates are based on experience.
While on active travel status in the field, this position will include: paid lodging, per diem ranging from $55-76 per day, paid individual room, a company car and insurance, or a car allowance of $475 monthly.
