Food Closet Assistant (warehouse/part-time)
The primary mission of the South Sacramento Interfaith Partnership Food Closet (SSIP) Food Closet is to maintain and operate an emergency food distribution to help alleviate food insecurity for South Sacramento residents.
Part-time position: Monday through Friday, 4 hours a day, 8:30am to 12:30pm.
Functions/Duties
⢠Must be able to lift 50 pounds of product in either boxes or bags. Must be able to assist with other heavy lifting. Move heavy boxes or bags of product to the volunteers as needed.
⢠Deliver or retrieve food from storage locations or partner stores as needed.
⢠Help unload food, verify quantities, and stock shelves.
⢠Uses safe food handling procedures.
⢠Follows standard safety practices common to equipment operation, work and inventory stocking.
Operates pallet jack and other necessary vehicles and equipment.
⢠Uses good communication skills and listening skills with clients, volunteers and staff.
⢠Assists with cleaning, closing and security of SSIP property.
⢠Performs miscellaneous and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements Include:
⢠Ability to lift 50 lbs
⢠Possess a valid California driverâs license and insurance.
⢠Clean DMV record
⢠Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and basic background check.
