Inkjet Operator – Trade Printing Company (Full-Time)

Compensation: $18.00 – $21.00/hr

Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time)

We are a busy trade printing and production facility, located in West Sacramento, seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically skilled Inkjet Operator to join our production team. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining our inkjet printing machines, ensuring top-quality output, and supporting smooth production flow. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, a sharp eye for detail, and takes pride in maintaining color accuracy, print consistency, and production efficiency throughout every run.

Key Responsibilities:

Set Up & Operation

- Prepare and operate inkjet presses in accordance with job specifications and work orders.

- Load substrates and ink into the press, perform alignment, and run test prints for quality assurance.

- Monitor press performance and make adjustments for color consistency, registration, and image quality.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of inkjet machines to ensure optimal performance.

- Diagnose and resolve print quality issues, including nozzle clogs, banding, and alignment errors.

- Track and report equipment malfunctions or needed repairs to the maintenance or production lead.

Quality Control

- Inspect printed materials for accuracy, color match, clarity, and completeness.

- Maintain detailed production logs, noting any variances, downtime, or quality issues.

- Ensure that finished products meet customer and company quality standards.

Inventory & Supplies

- Monitor ink and substrate levels; assist with inventory control and supply requests.

- Maintain organized storage of inks, printheads, and cleaning materials following safety protocols.

Team Collaboration

- Communicate effectively with prepress, finishing, and fulfillment teams to coordinate workflow.

- Support continuous improvement efforts by suggesting process or equipment improvements.

- Train or assist junior operators or production staff as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- 1–2 years of experience in a printing production environment preferred (digital or offset experience a plus).

- Familiarity with wide-format, UV, or variable-data inkjet printers is highly desirable.

Skills and Abilities

- Strong attention to detail and quality control.

- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, layouts, and production schedules.

- Basic computer literacy.

- Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining print machinery.

- Strong time management and ability to work under tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Standing, bending, and moving for extended periods.

- Comfortable working in a production environment with ink and solvents.
