Carlsbad – Accounting Manager

About Us: We are a small pet food ingredient company with approximately 50 employees. Our company has been growing in recent years, and this position will provide an excellent opportunity for the right person to help lead the company accounting and administrative department through our expansion.

You will be working at our Carlsbad office with a team of eleven other employees who focus on the management and administrative functions of the company. Our office has a casual and flexible environment that offers excellent opportunity for work and life balance. You will not be asked to work long hours to meet impossible deadlines, work from home off-hours or be told you can’t take time off when you want it. You will be allowed to set your own hours and take long lunch breaks to run errands, go to the gym or do anything else you would like to break up your day.

We have a dog friendly office since a large percentage of our business deals with making food for pets. It is important you are comfortable working with dogs, and we encourage staff to bring their dogs to work.

About the Position: The Accounting Manager will work directly with company ownership to assist with meeting financial goals and managing all accounting functions. In addition to daily accounting functions, the Accounting Manager will also assist company owner and department managers to develop and improve company policies and procedures.

This is a full-time position. Normal operating hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with opportunity for flexible start and end times.

Responsibilities:

· Oversee accounting staff and manage all accounting processes

. Month-end close and financial statement preparation and analysis

. Assist with forecasting and budgeting

. Assist with year-end audit and tax activities

· Prepare and maintain accounting records: including journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, and the analysis of income and expense activity.

· Prepare weekly cash flow reports

· Prepare all month-end closing journal entries.

· Manage staff reconciliation of bank and credit card statements

· Special projects

· Produce weekly and monthly financial reports

· Process improvements and documentation of internal controls

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other Business Related Degree

· Minimum of 8 years of experience in general business accounting

· Minimum of 2 years managing accounting staff direct reports

· Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, reconciliation, monthly closing procedures

· Experience with inventory preferred

· Knowledge of accounting software – QuickBooks Enterprise preferred

· Advanced MS Excel skills. Must know VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables

· Demonstrated initiative and drive to set and achieve goals
