About this Position

SeeScan is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer that has experience with manufacturing processes to help us build our best-in-class pipe inspection and utility locating equipment.

Your Mission

In this position, you will develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods and outputs through SolidWorks design, product testing, and failure analysis. You will need to balance this sustaining activity with concurrent Manufacturing and Quality initiatives. This is a hands-on position requiring hardware/software testing, vendor facing communications, and design work.

Responsibilities

Design new tooling and manufacturing processes to improve production and ensure the safety of electro-mechanical assemblers.

Research and test manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.

Perform Root Cause Analysis and work with design engineering to implement fixes.

Use fundamental analytic skills to evaluate designs quickly before spending time designing the details.

Review drawings and models for approval for manufacturing.

Work with design engineers on DFM and DFA.

Use feedback from Repair and Manufacturing teams to initiate process or design improvements.

Mentor other mechanical engineers when appropriate.

Design and implement tests to qualify reliability and long-term performance of products and assemblies.

Design manufacturing processes and equipment to support R&D efforts that are scalable to production levels.

Qualifications

Demonstrates creativity and excellent problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies, including proper handling of delicate electronics.

Familiarity with pneumatics, basic automation, and motion control.

Understands a wide variety of manufacturing and machining processes.

Able to utilize internal resources to determine product requirements, generate recommendations, document findings, and communicate findings to others.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Shows a high degree of initiative and motivation to work proactively, independently or within a team.

Proficient in SolidWorks or related parametric solid modeling software.

Other Helpful Skills

Experience with metrology concepts, including thread measurements, use of basic measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, and CMMs, is a plus.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
