This is one of the most exciting and dynamic times in the history of our organization. Rady Children’s Hospital is experiencing significant growth which includes the formation of several new institutes of distinction, including cardiology, cancer, neuroscience, mental and behavioral health, genomics and orthopedics. The VP of Philanthropy and our team of development experts seeks a highly-motivated, experienced development professional to serve as an Assistant Director of Philanthropy (Major Gifts - Fundraiser LI), assigned to one of these new institutes.The new Assistant Director will be responsible for identifying and developing relationships with a core group of prospective leadership donors with experience soliciting major gifts of $100K and higher. They will build and manage a portfolio of 80-120 prospects, cultivated for one of the specific institutes, ensuring the Foundation aligns donor interest with the appropriate giving area. Fundable programs and projects include, but are not limited to research, programmatic support, clinical advances, education and training, endowed chairs, and capital needs. This is a frontline fundraiser position and serves as liaison to hospital staff including physicians, administrators, and other stakeholders.The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience cultivating and closing major/large gifts, preferably in healthcare or academic medical setting; be an excellent ambassador and representative for Rady Children’s and the Foundation; thrive in a team-based work environment; work efficiently under pressure and be able to meet deadlines; demonstrate strategic thinking, good decision-making and adaptability; exhibit a growth mindset and an entrepreneurial spirit; and be proactive and solutions-focused. He/She should be a natural relationship builder who promotes a donor-centric culture of service and be articulate, poised, and possess good written and oral communication skills.
