Laboratory Assistant, Tissue Sectioning, San Diego, CAKelly Services is seeking a laboratory assistant to assist with basic activities required to manufacture biotechnology products by following established procedures. Major duties include the preparation of rodent and monkey tissues to be used for the manufacture of microscope slides.Key Responsibilities:

Sacrifices rodents mice and rats , dissects and prepares rodents to obtain desired organs for sectioning according to established procedures.

Preparation of mouse kidney stomach and mouse kidney tissue blocks. 15 usable blocks per day by the end of the 90 day introductory period is required.

Preparation of mouse/rat kidney, stomach, liver tissue blocks according to established procedures.

Mounts prepared rodent and monkey tissue for manufacturing according to established procedures.

Maintains rodents as needed.

This includes, but is not limited to, feeding, cleaning cages and transporting mice from shipping boxes to cages.

Cleans and maintains equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures SOPs .

Maintains accurate, detailed Device History Records and any associated documentation for all manufacturing activities in accordance with the Quality Systems Regulations QSRs in a timely manner.

Informs supervisor of equipment needs and other supplies required to avoid interruptions in manufacturing schedules.

Informs supervisor of broken or deteriorating equipment.

Maintains work station and laboratory in a clean and orderly manner.

Performs Friday clean-up responsibilities in a thorough, timely manner.

Follows established safety and environmental procedures.

Reports all safety hazards immediately to supervisor.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and other Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree GED with 0-4 years of laboratory work experience.

Excellent manual dexterity required.

Ability to work in a sitting position for long periods of time.

Ability to work with hands in a cold environment.

Working knowledge of a light microscope and organ anatomy highly desirable.
