Position DescriptionUnder direction of the Program Manager, oversees and manages the operational and technical aspects of an ongoing Data Science/Artificial Intelligence project, typically from initiation through delivery. Plans and manages project to meet the objectives established by the contract underlying the project and is accountable for the performance and profitability of the project.Provides leadership to customer and/or company staff based on contract goals and customer or company policy. Work is reviewed in terms of meeting contract objectives and schedules. Accomplishes tasks through assigned client staff and/or company exempt or non-exempt direct reports, and project sub-contractor personnel. Subject to approval, modifies the organizational structure to achieve project goals and objectives.Responsibilities

Under direction of the Program Manager, manages the project in order to expand Serco’s participation, anticipating and meeting customer needs; directs the technical activities of the project including, but not limited to, software engineering, solutions architecture, data science, scheduling, finance and operations with the objective of maximizing growth and profitability. Seeks to build project revenue by remaining alert to new business opportunities or expansion of business with the customer and advising senior operations management.

Acts as an advisor to develop and meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems. Directly participates in establishing and administering project controls. Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

Frequently contacts peer managers and customer representatives concerning the project, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarifications. Conducts briefings and technical meetings with company and customer representatives concerning project operations. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments normally result in serious delays and considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources, and funds.

Ensures adherence to Serco administrative policies and procedures, human resource policies and practices as applicable, and contracts administration procedures that support the programs of Serco, and ensures that the contract is administered to protect Serco’s interest and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Directs efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of the Serco team through training and development programs in both technical and scientific disciplines.

Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 5 years or Master’s plus 3 years of related experience. At least 3 years project management experience. Supervisory/management experience preferred.

In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 15 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

Experience with DDG-1000 Class is highly desired.

Familiarity and experience with Data Science, Solutions Architecture, or Machine Learning is highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

Strong customer service orientation.

Effective organization skills.

Ability to use MS Office suite including MS Project.

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET security clearance is required. Candidates with currently active clearances are preferred.
