SHELTER WORKERS:
Education: HS Diploma required. Associates Degree preferred.
Experience: 1+ years in customer service required; 3+ years preferred. Experience in working with immigrant populations and child welfare preferred. Licenses: Driver's License with clear record required.
Other: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Maintain current licenses and certificates required for the position including but not limited to CPR, & First Aid. Pass a pre-employment drug screen & always maintain emotional control and professional composure. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The shelter worker is responsible for providing excellent customer service, using professional judgment and best practices to ensure quality services are provided to the service population especially in crisis situations while maintaining compliance with established state and federal standards.
1. Coordinate with federal partners and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to receive clients.
2. Manage intake data and format appropriately for interagency reporting.
3. Provide clients with food and beverages during intake process, as needed. will be responsible for coordinating food and beverages, but not actually sourcing and providing food and beverages.
4. Coordinate for the daily food and beverage deliveries, and during delivery, assess if clients have any unmet needs.
5. Conduct room pre-staging: a. Inspect space for cleanliness (refrigerator, microwave, and bathroom)
b. Turn on the air conditioning/heat
c. Ensure personal hygiene items are in room or made available. will coordinate with House Keeping or Non-Profit partners for any missing items, as applicable.
6. Conduct client room orientation: a. Escort clients to room
b. Provide basic room familiarization lights, locks etc.
c. Demonstrate how to work the air conditioning and heat
d. Demonstrate how to work all appliances
e. Advise clients that they cannot leave their rooms at any time
f. Advise clients of emergency reporting/evacuation procedures
7. Coordinate for client laundry pick-up and drop-off.
8. Coordinate with hotel housekeeping and maintenance staff for logistical needs.
9. Coordinate with non-profits for the reception, management, and distribution of donated resources.
10. Escort COVID positive clients and members of their family unit from rooms for follow-up testing (e.g., 5-day, 10-day).
11. Work with hotel security to help direct clients to stay within appropriate areas of the Testing, Vaccination and Receiving Center (TVRC).
12. Coordinate with House Keeping and/or Non-Profit partners for clients with personal care items when requested.
13. Follow & reinforce all public health guidelines, infection prevention and control protocols, including:
a. Distributing new N-95s daily as supplied by the state.
b. Reminding clients to keep masks on
c. Frequently sanitizing workstations with cleaning supplies provided for by the state.
d. Ensuring COVID positive and exposed clients are not wandering outside their rooms and/or interacting with other clients.
e. Ensure new public health guidance is distributed and implemented as it becomes available
14. Follow all security protocols and always maintain a high level of situational awareness.
15. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts within 24-hour operational period for extended periods of time.
16. Must complete required cultural awareness, human trafficking, sexual assault training prior to deployment
17. Must read, acknowledge, and sign operational policy & procedures manual
