Job Description

At EDMO, staff members spend their summer connecting with kids, honing leadership skills and making a real impact - all while rocking wacky costumes and getting pied in the face! Our summer positions offer a unique opportunity to help kids uncover hidden talents, while pursuing your own personal and professional goals and passions. Spend your summer developing translatable and transferable professional skills (like staff hiring and coaching) while growing social emotional learning skills side by side with the kids (like collaboration, empathy and problem solving).

Our Site Coordinators are responsible for overseeing all things pertaining to their assigned location(s). From pre-season staff hiring and training, to in-season program management, staff coaching and camper and parent interactions, they manage every aspect of day to day operations. EachSite Coordinator will have 5-7groups (currently 12 children and 2 adults to a group in compliance with Covid-19 regulations) under their direction, across 1-2 on-site locations. In addition to a full time summer component, this job includes a part-time spring component that includes training, hiring, and preparation for running camp.

Main duties include:

  • Participating in any pre-camp training, professional development, or in season meetings
  • Managing all aspects of Camp EDMO daily operations for your on-site location(s)
  • Hiring, training and managing a team of Instructors and Counselors
  • Managing host location relationships, specifications, and help with location scouting if needed
  • Providing high caliber customer service by anticipating and addressing any kid, staff or parent challenges and/or concerns
  • Communicating with parents as needed, to make sure they are up to date on what their kids are experiencing at camp
  • Ensuring all staff, campers and parents are safe and have a positive experience in our program - this includes diligently following all EDMO Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions
  • Setting up and packing up camp, making sure that all needed materials are received and that anything necessary is returned at the camp’s closure
  • Making sure that all locations under your supervision are treated with respect and left the way they were before camp
  • Managing 5-6 groups (with 12 children 2 a pod and 2 staff members) under their charge which may include more than one location
  • Exhibiting the EDMO Vibe and demonstrating through actions and words each of the social emotional learning (SEL) skills of empathy, responsibility, initiative, collaboration, problem solving and emotion management, while also reinforcing these qualities in staff and kids

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in education or a related course of study
  • Experience working with youth of all ages
  • Past involvement/experience in a summer camp environment as staff (or as a camper!)
  • Experience hiring and managing a team of employees
  • Experience (and a love for!) working with kids
  • High sense of responsibility and dependability
  • Experience talking and interacting with parents
  • Skilled in problem solving, multi tasking, creativity and flexibility
  • Experience facilitating groups of children and/or working youth programs with proven classroom management
  • A large supply of costumes and/or a plethora of skits and songs in your back pocket is a PLUS!
  • Willingness to wear a mask, remain social distant at all location sites, and be meticulous about diligently following all EDMO Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions as it pertains to matters of safety

CPR/First Aid Certification is required by the full time start date. Certification must include an in-person CPR component. If you are not already certified, some compensation will be available.

Additional Information

This position is part-time during the spring and full-time during the summer. Exact dates to be discussed during the interview process. Dates depend on program sites with programs running from June 7-September 3rd, at a duration of 6-9 weeks.

Hours: The hours for this position are 8am-5pm (with 2X 30 min breaks) Monday through Friday.

Please note that this job no longer requires any overtime.

Salary: $16.50-18.50/hr depending on location/region and experience

For 2021 in-person programming: To ensure the safety of everyone in the EDMO community, we will be following all local and state COVID-19 policies as they evolve. Given current restrictions, all EDMO groups will have a maximum of 12 campers and 2 staff members. This number may be adjusted as various county regulations allow. Our safety measures include health monitoring, diligent cleaning, masks, and social distancing. A COVID-19 safety waiver will be required of all in-person staff at the time of hire and includes mask guidelines, requirements for good health with no COVID-19 symptoms and expectations that staff will make responsible choices regarding high-risk behavior within the community while working at EDMO.
