Department Overview:
a Data Modeler/Architect who has a passion for working with data and can design models for accuracy, integration, extensibility, scalability. You will contribute to the design, implementation and delivery of a next-generation data architecture platform. Purpose:
The Data Modeler/Architect position will be responsible for architecting, designing and developing data solutions in the department. The position requires extensive hands-on experience working with different businesses SMEs and technical peers to uncover requirements and real world concepts and translate them into robust data models that development teams can build on.Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:

  • Collaboratively work with functional experts and conduct interviews to understand and document the domain requirements and pain points.
  • Understand industry practices and tools to extract the entities, attributes and underlying rules, and to document them.
  • Design conceptual, logical and physical data models that support business objectives.
  • Document source to target mapping specifications including any necessary transformation, translation or business rules.
  • Contribute to the data catalogs for the enterprise.
  • Propose architecture that enables integration of disparate enterprise data assets.
  • Objectively review/analyze data models, and propose replacement models with clear pros/cons.
  • Able to adjust models for operational performance and reusability.
  • Lead efforts to research, identify, and profile data sources to uncover data anomalies and potential data quality concerns.
  • Develop and document the data modeling standards, best practices and evangelize them across department.
  • Conduct data model reviews to ensure data related standards and best practices are met.
  • Proactively educate others on basic data management concepts such as data governance, master data management, data warehousing, big data, reporting, data quality, and database performance.
  • Drive long-term data architecture roadmaps in alignment with corporate strategic objectives.
  • Pursue learning about new technologies and industry data management trends and, if appropriate, recommend their possible use within the company.
  • Foster collaborative work culture and mentor other team members to be more effective.

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of related experience in developing data solutions and models that support data lifecycle.
  • Expertise in industry standard patterns and practices for data modeling, process modeling, and metadata management.
  • Strong SQL skills and understanding of ETL, ELT processes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
  • Modeling tools (ER/Studio, erwin etc.) and techniques (normalization, star schemas).
  • Experience in data modeling for big data and establishing data integration between disparate systems.
  • Hands on experience with relational DBMS.
  • Experience with data vault modeling is preferred.
  • Experience with a Data Integration/Transformation tools (dbt, ssis, talend etc.)
  • Production delivery experience in Big Data related technologies (Snowflake, Synapse, Big Query, Redshift, EMR, Data bricks etc.).
  • Strong analytical / debugging / troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiar with master data management and data stewardship.
  • Programming experience is a plus - Python / Spark etc.
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, a plus.
