Hello, we are looking for a great caregiver to join our team at a home for adults with developmental disabilities located in La Mesa. Our four residents love crafts, cooking classes and fun community outings so we're looking for someone who likes those activities too! We are a behavioral home so experience working with strong behaviors (physical aggression, verbal aggression, etc) and using behavior modification techniques is required.
Applicants must:
- Have weekend availability and flexible availability during the week (a mix of morning and afternoon shifts)
- Have a reliable car to drive clients in
- Have a positive attitude
- Be a reliable and responsible teammate for our small, tight-knit team
Some Responsibilities May Include:
- Teach activities of daily living (following daily routine, cooking, hygiene, etc.)
- Ensure health and safety of residents
- Take daily data and pass daily medications
- Take residents on fun community outings or doctor's appointments using your car
- Attend all staff meetings and continuing education classes/trainings
Qualifications:
- A belief that all adults have the right and the ability to work and live in the community
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Required health screening, criminal background check, drug test, first aid training
- Valid state driver's license and clean driving record
- Access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance
- A year of experience working with Developmental Disabilities
- Knowledge of behavior modification techniques
