PROGRAM

The Vista Hill Juvenile Court Clinic (JCC) program works directly with youth who have been referred through the courts, probation, or Child Welfare services. We provide short term medication stabilization and transitional services, including mental health assessments, case management, and medication stabilization to assist these youth in facing their current situation and creating brighter future.

POSITION

This position uses nursing skills and knowledge to assess the client's mental and physical health and contributes to treatment plan development. Administers medications, provides client & family education that is culturally appropriate. An example of tasks include:

Communicate with and prepare documents for referring agencies as needed.

Provide initial and periodic medical support related to the effective and safe administration of psychotropic agents prescribed by JCC psychiatrist.

Medical orders and protocols - coordination under program psychiatrist.

Take Vitals

Draw blood and send to labs (when requested by doctor).

Perform urine drug screens and send samples to labs (when requested by doctor).

Weekly contact to all clients/families receiving medication. Strengths based reinforcement of compliance and system function. Assist in removal of barriers therein.

Assist filling of Rx.Prescription review, dosage clarification and information.

Liaison to pharmacy and laboratory.

As appropriate, co-facilitate parent or youth groups with community liaison, clinical or medical staff regarding medication effects, reactions, and compliance.

Appropriate charting, billing and documentation of services per the SD County uniform medical record manual.

REQUIREMENTS

Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in good standing.

Current CPR certification

Phlebotomy Certification to draw blood; completed related safety class.

Experience documenting in County Cerner Behavioral Health (CCBH) strongly preferred.

Bi-lingual and/or bi-cultural (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.

Two years psychiatric nursing experience with children & adolescents, outpatient preferred.

Two years working with a culturally diverse population preferred.

Conversant with System of Care principles.

HOURS

8:30 am-5:00 pm (32 hours per week) every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and either Monday or Tuesday.
