We are a Family Law firm located in La Jolla, California, and need a family law paralegal. We are also willing to train a civil litigation experienced paralegal, looking to transition to family litigation. Our primary area of practice is family law cases, but we also work on restraining orders and specific civil matters on a case-by-case basis.
We are looking for a paralegal that is familiar with the basic family law forms, and knowledgeable enough with San Diego Superior Court procedure, that they can prepare a file for Court. If you know how to efile, that would be great!
We are also willing to train the right person, who already has civil litigation experience and knowledgeable with CCP deadlines and calendaring. We truly want to find someone who is passionate about family law and eager to learn how to tackle the more complex areas of family law such as discovery and how to perform thorough financial document review.
Our paralegal will have excellent time management, multi-tasking, and impeccable attention to detail skills. You must have outstanding customer service and communication abilities. Our paralegal is understanding of the emotional difficulties clients face and meet them with empathy and patience. Our paralegal will be responsible for everything from calendaring, to drafting forms, proofreading attorney pleadings, filing, office communications, opening and closing client files, and case management. With time, additional responsibilities such as discovery and complex financial review will be added.
MS Office Suite; Adobe Pro; Practice Panther; and Essential Forms (or similar programs) knowledge is necessary. Must have basic knowledge of how technology works and software required for this day in age. Position will be on site until office policy and procedure is mastered, trust is earned, and the owner is comfortable enough to allow remote access as needed.

Compensation:
$40,000-$60,000, depending on the experience of candidate. Open to negotiation of higher salary for a Senior Level Family Law applicant who is capable of advance drafting of pleadings.
Paralegal is eligible for bonus share on misc. civil cases, pending on level of contribution on those cases.
Paralegal will receive personal office with free parking and building access.
This is a solo practitioner office and does not have medical or 401k benefits at this time, but potentially may in the future.
