OVERVIEW: Interfaith Community Services was founded in 1979 by a handful of diverse faith communities to address the needs of low-income, homeless and under-served people in North San Diego County. Interfaith offers programs through North San Diego County, from the coastal City of Oceanside, to the inland communities south and east of our Escondido headquarters. With more than 300 member faith centers and 130 dedicated staff, Interfaith serviced more than 16,000 unique individuals last year alone.
WHAT YOU WILL DO: This position will provide direct services to clients, to include but not limited to, intake, assessment and case management, and client advocacy (resources and referrals) to homeless and low-income individuals, with the goal of moving clients from crisis to self-sufficiency and to support the mission of Interfaith Community Services.
Provides direct services to clients including diversion, Individual Service Plan, assessment, crisis intervention, advocacy, and case management
Provides guidance and support to help clients identify their own strengths, set achievable goals and follow through consistently so they can become self-sufficient
Utilizes Housing First and Diversion strategies to stabilize clients experiencing or at-risk of experiencing homelessness
Administers supportive services per agency and contract guidelines
Identifies resources and advocates for clients needs
Links and networks clients with resources within the agency and utilizes other public and private social service agencies as necessary
Ability to work independently and professionally at partnering agencies, faith centers and other community settings.
Ability to work with and collaborate with volunteers, interns and other agency personnel.
Provides services in the community; working with clients in various settings, which include but are not limited to, other agency programs, faith centers, and school administrations
Responsible for meeting specific outcomes and contractual obligations required by program contracts
Enters data in an accurate and timely manner into multiple databases and tracking tools
Participates in all staff meetings and trainings
Performs additional duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree in Social Services or related field required
1+ years of work experience in a social services or nonprofit setting required
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Masters Degree in Social Services or related field preferred
SKILL SETS / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
Ability to work with clients experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness
Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid California drivers license, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the agencys insurance carriers standards
Must successfully pass a criminal background and exclusion/disbarment check
Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical, tuberculosis test, and drug screen
