Job Summary
The retail sales clerk is responsible for handling admission and sales transactions in the Museum Store. This position is the first and main contact point between the Museum and the visiting public so appearance and attitude are primary considerations. All retail personnel will report directly to the Retail Manager.
Essential Job Functions
The retail clerk will greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner.
The retail clerk will communicate clearly and openly with the museum customers.
The retail clerk will familiarize themselves with the Museum merchandise and the operations of the Museum
and Balboa Park in general.
All sales transactions will be handled in an accurate and courteous manner.
The Museum Store area will be kept clean and neat at all times.
The sales clerk will not engage in personal business while on duty during Museum open hours without the prior consent of the Retail Manager.
If the retail clerk will not be present at least one-half hour before their scheduled shift, they shall notify the retail manager of their absence at least two hours prior to the start of their shift.
All sales transactions, closing procedures, money counting and funds management will be done in an accurate manner.
Job Qualifications
Experience/Abilities: Required Ability to understand and utilize the point of sales computers and cash management system. This individual must be highly organized, have good communication skills and be motivated to interact with the public and staff.
Secondary Skill: A working knowledge of Spanish and any other language is a bonus.

Sitting at desk/workstation, walking, standing, climbing stairs, lifting/carrying (up to 40lbs.)
