Description
SAIC is seeking a Principal Systems Administrator in San Diego, CA with an active Top Secret/SCI Clearance to support a DARPA-led initiative. The ideal candidate will have expertise and extensive experience in technical programs, technical program management, agile software development, and specific experience with software development in a DevOps environment.
Distributed Experimentation Environment (DE2) and Vanguard Force DevOps Environment (VFDE) are designed to leverage Live, Virtual and Constructive (LVC) experimentation in developing advanced warfighter architectures and CONOPS and link sensors and weapons platforms in times of critical conflict around the globe.
Daily activities may include:
  • Providing technical support to improve Multi-Domain Command and Control (MDC2) capabilities through the development and continuous improvement of the Distributed Experimentation Environment (DE2) and Vanguard Force DevOps Environment (VFDE).
  • Improving DE2/VFDE processing, cybersecurity, hardware and software, exploitation, and Battlespace Management and C2 (BMC2) capabilities across all warfare domains.
  • Performing high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
  • Coordinating, directing and performing complex software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Scheduling installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Continually monitoring and tuning multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensuring workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
  • Ensuring data/media recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Conducting hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Developing technical solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree; Or seven (7) years of relevant experience with a Master's Degree. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in server architectures, storage architectures, virtualization, clustering, monitoring tools, backup/restore, performance tuning/capacity planning, documentation, server management
  • Must have experience with server administration including backup/restore, performance tuning, DNS, TCP/IP, and clustering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience working with VMWare hypervisors and architecture
  • Solid understanding of data and telecommunication technologies and networking fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of database management, security and data access technologies
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and co-workers
  • Proven ability to provide project leadership as well as work routine tasks with minimal supervision
