San Diego Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a Research Technician with strong experience in molecular genetics techniques and mammalian cell culture to perform a variety of duties in Dr. Laurent Verkoczys laboratory which uses mice as immunization models to study antibody responses for vaccine development. We consider each member of the laboratory an integral part of our endeavor to develop effective vaccines and welcome intellectual engagement by all personnel.

Specific duties will include: (some training will be provided but experience working with mice is required)

Develop high throughput molecular genetics assays for immune cell analysis such as 10x, Next gen, Illumina etc.

Perform animal sample processing of immune tissues for flow cytometry, cell culturing, DNA extractions, antibody assays, etc

Perform mammalian cell culture

Assist with mouse colony maintenance by performing genotyping assays.

Assist in tracking and accession of immunogens/adjuvants, mouse tissue samples, and developing appropriate spreadsheets for shipping samples to collaborating labs.

Confer with supervisor and senior lab staff in helping to review and develop plans for mouse immunization studies and colony maintenance.

Contribute to regular, detailed reports for laboratory staff and collaborators.

Drive between two facilities on a routine basis to maintain mouse colony.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in biology, veterinary technology, or a related field required.

2-3 years of experience in molecular genetics techniques, and some experience in immune assays such as Flow Cytometry and ELISA required

Must be detail-oriented, very well organized, and approach laboratory procedures with critical thinking of the technical aspects

Must adhere to strict safety requirements

Ability to work and communicate effectively in an interactive team environment
