This position is for a creative Senior Electrical Engineer to develop and deploy new electrical designs. The Electrical Engineer must be able to work closely with other engineers and team members in order to implement designs and meet deadlines. Since Gamma Scientific is a small fast growing company, the Electrical Engineer should possess good multi-tasking skills and be a versatile problem solver. The Senior Electrical Engineer will report to the Director of Engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and debug complex electrical schematics in OrCAD, Altium, Cadence, EAGLE, Easy PC, or other electrical design software
Design and layout PCBs using OrCAD, Altium, Cadence, EAGLE, Easy PC, or other electrical design software
Integrate microcontrollers in electrical designs and program those microcontrollers in C, assembly language, etc.
Integrate new hardware with existing systems, send and receive commands with various hardware/software interfaces
Generate full documentation packages for electrical designs, including schematics, GERBER files, fab drawings, bill of materials, etc.
Develop electrical test jigs for production testing and verification of turnkey PCBAs
Design, code, and debug simple software in C, C, C#, .NET, assembly language, or other selected languages
Experience designing and troubleshooting PLCs and FPGAs is a plus
Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes, and provide comments on some electrical design aspects
Work collaboratively and professionally with other Gamma Scientific associates in cross functional teams to achieve goals
Apply a sense of urgency, commitment, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion
Travel to assist with hardware implementation and system integration in the field
Perform other duties as necessary
Requirements:
Strong background using Altium or OrCAD to design schematics and layout PCBAs
Deep understanding of electronic design principles and firmware development
Extensive experience using electronic test equipment (DMMs, signal generators, Oscilloscopes, etc.)
Knowledge of ESD guidelines for handling electronics, experience with soldering/rework of PCB assemblies
Knowledge and hands-on experience with DC and AC wiring and troubleshooting
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, other Engineering disciplines, Physics, or Optics
5+ years’ experience designing electrical circuits and PCBs is required, 10+ years is preferable
Strong background in Engineering and Physics is required
Basic knowledge in the fundamentals of spectroradiometer, photometry and colorimetry is desired
Experience with light measurement test equipment, electronic laboratory equipment, or commercial display equipment is a plus
General PC skills in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision
