Engine Machinist

The Engine Machinist is responsible for precision machining, rebuilding, and reconditioning

of engine components for a wide range of vehicles. This role requires advanced technical

skill, attention to detail, and experience operating specialized machine shop equipment. The

machinist ensures all engine components meet OEM specifications, performance standards,

and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform complete engine machining services, including cylinder honing, decking, block

resurfacing, line boring, and sleeve installation.

- Rebuild and recondition cylinder heads: valve grinding, seat cutting, pressure testing,

resurfacing, guide replacement.

- Inspect and measure engine components using precision tools.

- Polish crankshafts

- Clean, media blast, and prep engine components for assembly.

- Diagnose engine wear, damage, and mechanical failures; recommend machining or

replacement solutions.

- Maintain machine shop equipment such as boring bars, surfacers, lathes, mills, grinders,

and balancing machines.

- Ensure all machining meets tolerances, manufacturer specs, and performance goals.

- Document work performed and maintain accurate measurement logs.

- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized machining environment.

Qualifications:

- 3–5+ years of professional engine machining experience preferred.

- Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines (gasoline and/or diesel).

- Proficiency with precision measuring tools and machining equipment.

- Ability to interpret technical manuals and OEM specifications.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

- ASE Machinist or related certifications preferred but not required.
