Evolver is seeking a Business Continuity and Crisis Management Senior Consultant to join our team to support our client in San Francisco, CA.

Responsibilities:
BC & CM functions are committed to maintaining the operational integrity of critical business functions as well as the reduction of potential risks resulting from a wide range of potentially disruptive events through the development, testing and integration of contingency plans and processes. BC & CM function is responsible for ensuring the day to day resiliency posture of the firm and serves as in-house subject matter expertise for continuity and resiliency related issues. The Senior Consultant of BC & CM will be responsible for ensuring the development, maintenance, and testing of response and recovery plans across the firm. This includes identification, reduction/elimination and/or escalation of potential risks and vulnerabilities that could result from a disruption of critical processes due to natural disasters, technical failures, third party vendor failures, market disruptions or human error. The Senior Consultant of BC & CM is expected to be available during non-business hours to lead the crisis management response effort.

Qualifications:

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Continuity

- Strengthen and grow the BCM program through conducting a business impact analysis; developing business continuity and disaster recovery plans; testing those plans, and ensuring any gaps are remediated.

Business Impact Analysis
  • Coordinate the completion of the annual firm-wide Business Impact Analysis with identified BC Coordinators. The BIA determines the impact of each process when it cannot be performed and the timing of when that impact is felt. It is the basis for determining recovery strategies and investment.

Maintain Business Continuity Plans
  • In consultation with senior leadership and division management, develop and maintain appropriate business continuity strategies and coordinate the documentation of department level business continuity plans with identified BC Coordinators.
  • Maintain appropriate BC & CM program policy documentation

Third-party Continuity
  • Ensure the analysis of third-party’s business continuity capabilities to ensure they meet the firm’s needs as determined by the BIA. BC Coordinators.

Crisis Management

– Ensure the identification, escalation, and firm-wide response to disruptive events and lead the firm's business continuity response during incidents.
  • Ensure the continuous monitoring of threats and vulnerabilities that may impact operations
  • Serve as the crisis manager overseeing the response to crisis events impacting the firm
  • Provide "On Call" 24/7 support when a business disruption occurs
  • Conducts incident summaries and after actions reviews as directed
  • Maintains the crisis management plan documentation including specific recovery strategy playbooks
  • Facilitate formal incident after-action reviews

Exercises/Testing – ensure that all aspects of the BC & CM program are exercised to ensure viability and appropriateness
  • Lead the BC Coordinators in the development and execution of annual BC and DR functional exercises
  • Coordinate the firm’s participation in third-party and financial service industry continuity exercises
  • Execute crisis management notification exercises as required using the notification system
  • Lead the development and execution of business continuity and crisis management tabletop exercises to promote scenario-based mitigation plans
  • Ensure the results of all exercises are documented and track any identified gaps to completion

Training and Awareness

- Promote the awareness of the firm's BC & CM program capabilities to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide specific training to recovery support staff
  • Develops and delivers firm wide business continuity awareness presentations and training
  • Advance the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of the BC coordinators

Governance
  • Lead continuity projects that improve the firm’s recovery posture
  • Maintain the firm’s BC policy and ensure that the program meets pertinent regulatory requirements
  • Periodically report the firm’s continuity posture to senior leadership using readiness dashboards and risk-based metrics
  • Assisting client facing units to respond to RFP and Due Diligence questionnaires by maintaining external entity written documentation
  • Meets with clients to review the firm's business continuity program
  • Re-assess BC & CM program resource requirements as business processes change and make recommendations to senior leadership
  • Maintain the suite of BC & CM tools

Technical Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced business continuity professional possessing a combination of leadership, management and technical skills including:
  • 8-12 years (eight to twelve) of applied subject matter expertise and experience aligned to industry standards, preferably in investment management or banking.
  • The ability to project an executive presence is essential. Qualified candidates must possess the ability to engage others; to draw others in and command their respect; to communicate with confidence in plain English, and to convey credibility by balancing language, applied knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all stakeholders, especially under duress.
  • Cultivate and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to articulate a vision, influence change and generate a sense of urgency.
  • Develop a logical plan of action, gain support of stakeholders, operate in an organized and structured manner, and prioritize considering time, cost, and competing initiatives.
  • An understanding of technology infrastructure including data center and computer operations, storage management, telecommunications and networks is important.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-sufficient.
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, conscientious self-starter who has high standards and enjoys a challenge.
  • Qualified candidates must possess the ability to roll up their sleeves and tactically respond to crisis events in a timely manner.

Training and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or equivalent work experience.
- Professional certifications (e.g., BCI, DRII) or similar accreditations are desirable.
