Description Robert Half is looking for a highly skilled Assistant Controller to join a dynamic and fast-growing team. Self-starters with technical skills and an interest in analytics may flourish in this Assistant Controller role. Located in San Francisco, California, this Assistant Controller position is a long-term contract / temporary employment opportunity.Key responsibilitiesSupervise financial executive package and control book on a monthly basis, ensuring it includes budget to actual comparisons by department
Uphold accounting and reporting policies
Complete financial statements and closes on a month-end, quarter-end, and year-end basisTake on coordination and leadership over external financial audits
Oversee treasure functions to ensure timely payment for vendors and maintain accuracy of cash forecasts
Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to participating in system improvements, impromptu analyses, and special projects as assignedProvide support to the Company through external reporting and technical accounting GAAP mentorship
Supply external monthly and quarterly reporting packages to Board meeting decks
Efficiently maintain and prepare reconciliations/analyses for balance sheet and income statement accounts
Play an active role in the development of the accounting team, including the staffing, performance management, and training of team members Requirements - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
Bachelor degree in Accounting
Deep technical background in public accounting (GAAP)
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Expert Microsoft Excel skills required
Account reconciliation experience preferred
Deep understanding of Foundation Grants
Comprehensive knowledge of non-profit fund accounting
Expertise in Private Grants
Similar industry experience
Relevant industry experience (preferred)
Ability to multitask and attention to detail are critical
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Capacity to anticipate needs and pre-plan work
Excellent analytical, quantitative and social skills
