Description Michael Lauer of Robert Half is looking for an ambitious, eager Controller to join the team at an well-respected services company. This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, your tasks will include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, managing the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assessing accounting and internal control systems, and guiding departmental staff. Based in the San Francisco, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.Major responsibilitiesEnsure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Requirements - Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience required
Well-founded grasp of budgeting
Foundational knowledge in Property Management Accounting
Proficiency in HOA
Proven knowledge of month end closings
Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)
Supervisory Oversight experience
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
