They are seeking a Lead Software Engineer who can architect out elegant solutions to achieve team business goals, propose novel ideas and perspectives, and is looking to build upon a pioneering modern pet health company. Job Details

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will
  • Lead an engineering pod to deliver end-to-end solutions
  • Build across the full stack from the backend APIs to front end user interfaces
  • Design and build large-scale, distributed, highly available, well-tested, and easily managed applications
  • Work with a cross-functional team to identify and define features that will solve complex pain points for our pet parents and educate them on improved pet care
  • Innovate technical design and systems architecture across platforms and applications
  • Iterate on ideas quickly from brainstorming sessions, from proof of concept to delivering the final version
  • Collaborating with Software Engineering Leaders, Product Managers, Marketing, Member Experience & Digital Health team and others to deliver impactful solutions
  • Define systems architecture and design, and evaluate feasibility and sustainability
  • Balance the need to move quickly with establishing & maintaining processes, performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Champion best software engineering practices such as continuous integration, delivery, and deployment
  • Mentor other engineers and continue building a strong culture of quality

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer science or related field preferred
  • 7+ Years of production web app development experience (mobile app is a plus)
  • 7+ Years experience in a modern MVC framework language (Ruby on Rails is a plus)
  • 5+ Years experience working with databases and tools (Postgres is a plus)
  • 5+ Years experience in a front-end framework (React is a plus)
  • 5+ Years experience working with distributed teams
  • Expert experience in architecture and design principles in software development for large scale applications including analysis, design, development, implementation, testing, maintenance, and quality assurance is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work on both the back-end or front-end layer and building APIs
  • Working knowledge and experience using Agile with Scrum methodology
  • Team player as well as self-starter who needs little supervision.
  • Able to use independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize a diversified workload
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
