Uber for Business (U4B) is a product suite that enables businesses to create a centralized account where employees can charge trips, eats, gift cards, vouchers etc directly to their employer via the uber mobile applications. The product provides complete transparency into all employee trips, allows businesses to set policies and restrictions on employee travel, and consolidates business travel management, increasing administrative efficiency.
About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will collaborate, mentor, and lead a larger team of talented engineers to drive full-stack development standards, work continually to enhance customer facing features along with scaling platform services and instill a high engineering bar on the U4B team. Provide technical leadership in designing, implementing, testing and rolling out the next generations of the flagship U4B systems. Create frameworks and abstractions that are reliable, reusable and avoid surprising outcomes.
Understand the business and identify strategically important problems, inefficiencies or opportunities for significant improvements. Drive alignment on how to seek these and deliver high leverage solutions on these at the group and organization level.
Go-to person to lead an end to end product development cycle. Get clarity of problem statements from designers and product managers, break projects into meaningful tasks, and deliver the project with metrics and data with fellow engineers.

Basic Qualifications
10+ years relevant engineering experience in successfully designing and building large scale, highly available and reliable engineering systems addressing real-world ambitious problems.
Experience with multiple programming languages & data stores. We use programming languages like Go, Java, Python & data stores like Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis or similar technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Passion for driving continual improvement initiatives on engineering standard methodologies like coding, testing or monitoring.
Proven ability to develop other strong senior engineers into Staff engineers, operating and leading their own initiatives with org-wide scope and high impact.
Demonstrated experience shipping high-quality product features on schedule and instill a level of engineering excellence culture.
Proven track record of technically leading and mentoring engineering teams delivering high impact projects and inspiring junior engineers to grow.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents.
Active contributor to the broader technical community through tech talks, publications, open source projects or other ways.
