Position: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: San Jose CA
Duration: Fulltime
Responsibilities:
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for developing products from inception to production release as well as sustaining current products. Initial focus will be on becoming the in-house expert on current and new designs for the Wherenet product line. Wherenet products are used to track assets/people to 1-3m accuracy and are deployed extensively in large auto manufacturing plants, ports for tracking containers, airports for tracking tarmac equipment, and for people tracking in worker safety applications. Wherenet products consist of a variety of tags, receivers, magnetic portals, and provisioning tools. The products include 2.4GHz ISO 24730 radios, GPS radios, WiFi radios, BLE radios, motion sensors, microcontrollers, and complex digital and analog circuitry.
The candidate will work with other in-house EEs, MEs, and Firmware/Software Engineers as well as our off-shore partners and manufacturers to release new products and maintain current products.
Required Skills:
Digital/Analog board level circuit design
Microcontroller design
FPGA design
RF system level design for 2.4GHz radio-based systems
Schematic capture and board layout
Parts selection and parts maintenance
Development and execution of system test
Manufacturing test development
Interfacing with firmware and software engineers
Interfacing with compliance engineers and agencies
Leading product release process into manufacturing
On-going technical support to offshore manufacturers
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
5 years minimum industry experience
Experienced in Digital/Analog board level design
Experience with microcontroller design
Experience with FPGA designs
Schematic capture and layout experience
Strong prototyping and debugging skills
Experience working with 2.4GHz radio-based designs a strong plus
Understanding of radio communication principles
Experience with standard lab equipment, i.e., scopes, logic analyzers, etc.
Written and verbal communication skills
