Job Title: Data Protection Program Manager Job Location: San Jose, CA Job Type: Contract / Full-Time
Essential job responsibilities:
Work in collaboration with parent company contacts to understand and implement agreed upon data classifications
Coordinate with multiple teams across the company and in different countries and time zones
Define project scope, goals and clear deliverables that support business and technology goals in collaboration with senior management and partners.
Develop formalized data inventory encompassing all systems, apps, and vendors.
Develop formalized data maps and data flow diagrams detailing process flows of restricted and confidential data, and how the data travels through different phases of the lifecycle
Effectively communicate and manage project expectations and updates to sponsors, team members and partners in a timely and clear fashion.
Plan, schedule and track project timeline and milestones using PPM tool
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate team members
Continually measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
Establish and implement training regarding data classification standards to all associates
Hold regular technical team meetings to ensure progress and address any questions or challenges regarding projects
Facilitate & write project retrospectives at the end of project to improve future engagements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in business information systems or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of IT security and related experience, preferably in a multi-national firm
Data Classification and Protection tool experience
Knowledge and skills:
Solid sense of personal accountability regarding decision-making and supervising department teams
Familiarity with data classification software tools, methodologies, and standard methodologies
Good communication skills and ability to efficiently elaborate issues and risks to all partners and senior management
Experience working in a high-level collaborative environment and promoting a collaboration-mentality to develop, deliver, operationalize, document, and support solutions
Excellent facilitation skills and ability to use influence to negotiate positive outcomes
